Puerto Rico
Definitely check out the fort El Morro at San Juan. It really put colonialism in context. absolutely magnificent.

Old San Juan is a nice place to wander around for the evening.

Beaches are disappointing and very littered. It's heartbreaking.

The chartered bus tour of the city is um, interesting, because the guide made no effort to paint a good picture of PR. it was very honest, he even took us to the nasty parts of the city.

Be aware that July is pretty close to hurricane season.

The food is great. Truly beautiful. Check out the fort. Take the guided tour through the rain forest.  Out of Atlantis in the Bahamas (the hotel was wonderful) and Cancun/Cozumel (haven't been to Hawaii yet) I would actually say P.R. is one of my favorite "tropical" vacations. Any how, the green mountains in combination with the beaches and water crashing on rocks makes a gorgeous scenery.
