B&B Huize Clara

This was a really excellent place recommended to us by the Gent tourist board who arrange bookings for free.  It's pretty close to the center, near the Gravensteen castle.

The owner is a really lovely lady who has
recently renovated the whole place.  Check
out the photo album on the table by the
bathroom where you can see how she did
the whole thing herself!  She gave us maps,
showed us places to go for dinner and gave
a huge breakfast.  Having not seen a slice
of toast for weeks, we were eternally grateful!

The rooms are huge, spacious and airy, complete with bottles of mineral water, books and games to play.  The top floor has 4 beds, and the middle floor has a double.

The large bathroom has a bath, seperate
shower and shelves for each room to put
their washbag so you don't have to keep
carrying it around with you.

The hallways have wooden floors so please
take your shoes off at night to avoid waking
your fellow guests.  The bathroom door has
no lock, so the rule is if it's closed, knock, if it's open then walk right in

Ghent Accomodation Reviews
HI Hostel - Belgium Draecke - http://www.ghent-hostel.com/

Ghent, Belgium Draecke - A clean location really close to everything. Six bunks per room, all equipped with private showers and sinks. You could luck out like I did and have an entire room of 6 bunks to yourself! Try to hint to the receptionist that you would appreciate a room with privacy, without paying the extra costs. *wink* *wink*

I like Ghent, and think it's worth an overnight stay. The HI hostel there is really nice, and they have rooms with private bathroom for around 20 Euros per person (without HI card). http://www.youthhostels.be/
Camp Blaarmeersen - www.gent.be/blaarmeersen

The campsite is located on a huge campus of Olympic-sized sports facilities, including a bike track, tennis courts, gymnasium and swimming pool. The campsite is a separate cost from all of the other activities and, in fact, I do not even know if the recreational stuff if available to the public. The site is located a mile or two from the city center, but is easily reached by public transportation. (From tran station, take Bus 9 & transfer to Bus 39)
