Romania and Bulgaria are amazing, and I say go there. Nothing better than hiking Ezerovo, Bachkovo and Shiroka Laka - monasteries, pine forests and tiny villages. You will save money if you shop around and take advantage that you are a student - students generally pay less than non students.

It's a beautiful museum town in Bulgaria. There is not much to do except wander around through the narrow winding streets and feel like you've been picked up and dropped in the 1800's but it's an amazing experience.
