Sibiu is a favourite for the castles and the hills & forest.

Cluj Napoca is a good place to go, but that you can skip Brasov.

Nothing better than hiking Ezerovo, Bachkovo and Shiroka Laka – monasteries, pine forests and tiny villages. You will save money if you shop around and take advantage that you are a student – students generally pay less than nonstudents.
