Contraception
Failing to pack birth control -
either the daily pill or condoms can be disastrous. I never set out for action
when on holiday but it is best to be prepared. Even if you are on the pill,
bringing along a handful of condoms is advisable for protection against
STD's.
One interesting thing to note is that the 'Morning After Pill' is
readily available at pharmacies throughout Europe without a prescription. It
should be taken within 48 hours of having unprotected sex. But again, this pill
won't protect against STD's so condoms are generally the best plan. Who
wants to come home from their vacation with an STD for a souvenir?
It's not
everywhere though. In Holland it's available but not a pharmacies. You can get
them at the Rutger foundation but it's not worth hassle. After all, condoms are
available at pharmacies
And don't forget the time zone change. It's
best to keep on your regular schedule for your pill, if you take it at 9pm at
home, try to take it as late as possible in Europe, to stay on your body's
clock. No point in taking unnecessary chances, as minute as the possibility may
be, in my book!
